Summer??

It's been awhile since I've posted anything. School finished for the summer & it will soon start again. Our back lawn finally resembles a lawn again. Our leech field kicked the bucket. We had the field & the septic redone. They were both replaced in a a different location on the back lawn. The grass seed was spread today & hopefully it will start to grow (I'm sure we'll get rain soon, so we won't have to water it).

Speaking of rain, wow, we have had enough of it. I don't know if I can say that summer has begun. Yesterday & Sunday were both good days of sun.

Our family was in hopes of having a new addition this summer, but turned out not happening. We were hoping for a Bernese Mountain Dog. The "mother dog" turned out not being pregnant. Everything happens for a reason. I don't know what the reason might have been, but now we will just wait until next time. She will be in heat again sometime around November. That means if everything works out, she will have the puppies around January & we can take ours home sometime in March.

I have been doing a lot of research on these dogs. I have always wanted one & couldn't believe it when our friend got this one and said "When she's old enough I'm going to breed her." Well my first reaction was, "Put us on the list!" Once she starting telling others that, she decided she better start keeping "a list."

I've been making a list of names, regular "house" names and registered names. I have a folder already started with all kinds of information in it. Info about the puppy's mother & father and other generic BMD information. I purchased two books from Amazon to help me with my research. We just hope everything works out next time!

Twitter

I finally have a Twitter account (www.twitter.com/LA32). I've heard people talk about it and wasn't sure if I really wanted to join. Well after hearing Ellen DeGeneres talk about it on her show, I said what the heck.

My son's computer teacher had her students sign up for accounts and they use them all the time. So I asked my son if he liked it, and he said yes. After I joined, I became a follower of my son & his computer teacher. That great computer teacher helped me find more to follow and now I have a lot of others following me.

It has become one of the two sites that I constantly check.

I have learned that it's a great place to find information of all kinds.

Family Visit

Towards the end of our February school vacation, the California family came to the East Coast for a visit. It was a great time. Tracey, Matt, John, Dylan, Jackson, Logan & Tommy all arrived on a Thursday afternoon. They were supposed to be at Manchester Airport at 10:25 AM. Well, due to delays in DC, they arrived at 1:50 PM.
The morning started with mom and I driving to Manchester in the snow. It usually takes about 1.5 hrs-2hrs. This time it took 2.5 hrs to get to the airport. I drove 40 mph most of the way on the interstate.
Mom & I wasted time by walking around the airport and going to the Manchester Mall. Mom had never experienced that mall before.
Anyways, once they arrived, back north we went.
It was a busy week, but it was worth it. We went to Cannon Mtn to go skiing/snowboarding, we celebrated Logan & Matt's birthdays, Kyle also had two basketball games that we all attended. Another day of skiing/snowboarding at Whaleback and a trip to Burton Snowboard in Burlington, VT on a snowday for Kyle & I.
When Kyle & I went back to school, the CA crew went to Cannon again. This time Uncle Bo came up and went with them.
I'm glad they came. Everyone had a great time!

Webcams

My family is now connected with webcams. Our house has had a webcam for awhile now. I bought one for the parents for their anniversary and I bought one for my sister and her family for early birthday presents.
My parents and I have been using ours since I bought it (the beginning of January). Finally my sister Tracey hooked hers up. Then my sister Adrienne went and bought one for herself.
We used Skype, but that only lets you video conference with one other person. Adrienne told us of Oovoo. Oovoo allows you to video conference up to at least 5 people (I think anyways).
Today we all got to see each other, it was really cool. The CA boys showed off and made faces, dad was told just to sit and talk, not to touch anything, Adrienne and I were "IMing" each other "off camera," and I sat there listening to everyone else. My camera is a little old and I think I might upgrade soon.

The New TV

Here is a video of our new TV. The new TV stand is on order, so it sits on top of the entertainment center for now.
