Our first snow day of the school year

December 12, 2008: Snow/ice day
I think this is our first snowfall that has actually "stuck" around. We have had a few little flurries, but nothing too exciting.
This has been a crazy week, as far as the weather goes. Due to the middle school not being in use, all the Christmas concerts for Haverhill had been planned to be at the high school. Tuesday was supposed to be WES, Wednesday was supposed to be HCMS, and Thursday was supposed to be WHS. Due to the weather, all concerts had been postponed. That meant that the gym had been set up for three days for concerts, therefore, the basketball teams had to find some place else to practice. Now the gym has to be set up again, this time for just two concerts. WES is going to split their concert up into two nights and will be having it in the school's gym.

The weather all over the state has been crazy. The governor announced NH in a state of emergency due to ice on the wires, trees down and the roads being impassable. North Haverhill lost power at 4:39 am. It came back on at about 2:00 pm. Thank God my parents had power today. That is where Kyle & I spent most of our day. Lounging around in their recliners and using mom's computer to connect to the outside world.

I'm glad we have our power back. What a day!

Autumn

It has been awhile since I wrote anything last. It has been a buys fall. We have made it to all of Kyle's soccer games. I have taken a lot of pictures. Not just of Kyle, but of his teammates.

It seemed like the leaves turned their pretty fall colors over night. Even though it means winter is coming soon, the cold in the morning with the frost and the sun rising, the trees have a beautiful look about them.

Another first day of school

The first day of school seemed to be ok. The morning traffic was typical, and the parking lot was crowded (nothing new).

It was overall a not bad day!

Maybe we have good luck now...

Yesterday we drove to Burlington, VT for the Burton Summer Sale. This is a three day event, and or course we pick the first day this year. We waited in line for about two hours.
In the parking lot a few vendors were set up, one of them was Vew-Do. Vewo-Do is a balance board company out of Vermont. Kyle had been walking around the parking lot while I stood in line to hold our place. The announce that they are going to have a contest on the balance boards. Kyle jumps on a board and wins the contest. By winning this, we get to jump the line and head into the big sale. YEAH!!
As the guy from Burton walks us into the sale, he tells us that if we were still in line, it would have been another hour & half.
Kyle made out all right with his findings!

Stolen items

While my son was attending a week camp he had his laptop, ipod and cell phone stolen from his room. This happened the last day while he and his roommate were at breakfast.

We are just shocked that this had happened to our son. Nowadays we can't think that nothing bad is going to happen to us. It is sad that we always have to be on the look out, keep things constantly locked up and can't trust anybody.

After this had happened to him, we heard of programs and software that can be installed on Apple computers to find them after it has been stolen. I would highly recommend to install these programs before this happens to you. One such program is called Undercover (http://www.orbicule.com/undercover/). We will be installing this program once he gets his new laptop.

Remember to always lock up and protect anything of value that you don't want stolen!

Where has the time gone?

Well, the summer is almost over. The 4th of July has come and gone, soon, the fair will be here and before we know it, that will be over too. Around here, we say after the "4th" and the fair, the summer's over and back to school we go.

I haven't had too much time to do any genealogy work. I haven't done any scrapbooking for awhile either. I have a few interests and they come and go in spurts. I have been working at summer school two days a week this year. I haven't ridden my horse as much as I would like to. I just don't know what the heck we've been doing. I guess soccer and a few other things have kept our house hoppin'.

Kyle goes to soccer camp next week. He is all excited. He has everything packed.

So after the fair comes and goes, it's time to think about school shopping. Start looking for the deals!

School's Out!

The 2007-2008 school year is now complete. Is sure went by fast. Kyle finished his first year at WHS. Wow!

When the new school year starts, we'll be saying that the summer went by fast.

Our house is busy this summer with soccer, 4-H events, work and whatever else happens to make its way onto the calendar. Our house seems to be always busy.

Genealogy

Lately I have been working on some more genealogy research. I've tried to organize surnames into their own binders. I think the only ones I have so are are Noyes, Pike, Whitcher, (these are all on the Noyes side) and then one for my Grandmother Noyes's side. Those names are Chesney and Fowler. I have also started with my mother's side (Willey).

My older sister and I started this on-going project many years ago. Thank goodness for technology and the internet. I have found lots of information and "talked" to lots of people through the World Wide Web.

We first started by going to the New Hampshire State Genealogy Library in Concord. I have continued with the research by visiting different libraries, historical societies and cemetaries.

Different websites that I like to refer to are:
Noyes Family Genealogy Forum

Ancestry.com

Family Search

Just to name a few. I know I have more that I like, just can't remember at this moment.

April 2, 2008

This is my first blog entry. I enjoy many things in life. I enjoy my family and my animals.
My family consist of the person I consider my husband (we have been together for a long time, live together and have a son, just not married), our son and the two dogs.

We currently have two dalmatians in our home. We had three until October of this past year (2007). We had to put our 12 year old male (Magic) down. Magic was bought for our son by my sister. We had Magic ever since his puppy days. Lucky, our second dog, came to us because her previous owner was moving and could not take her. Sasha, our third dog, came to us 6 years ago.
Magic was deaf and so is Lucky. Sasha is a hearing dog. It was different when we got a hearing dog, because the other two didn't bark much. When Sasha moved in, she barked when a car went by or when the door opened.

Our 15 year old son keeps us busy. He is busy with academics, athletics and other group activities. We are also busy with our own activities, such as fire meetings, school board meetings and other types of meetings.

Tonight we actually are all home and no one has a meeting or event to be at.
