5 months old

Sullivan is now 5 months old.  He enjoys his time at work with Shawn.  He even goes on the delivery route.  Now that summer is here, he only goes to work "part-time."  He stays home with me & the girls.  He likes to be in the air conditioning.  Now that Kyle is working with Shawn at the shop, he has been going on the deliveries.  Well, the delivery van is only a two passenger & their is no room for the little man.  When Kyle gets out of the van, he gets "Where is the dog?"  He's getting used to it, though.

Sullivan attended puppy kindergarten class, now he goes to obedience classes.  He enjoys class time.

Kyle & Sullivan like to hang out.  This picture was taken at the barn. We brought Sully to the barn to hang out with the horses & to see his Golden Retriever "cousin's," Jed & Max.

At his last vet visit, almost 3 weeks ago, Sullivan weighed 42.6 lbs.  He have heard that some of his siblings weigh more than Sullivan.  He is growing & changing everyday.

12 weeks old or 3 months

Sullivan is now 12 weeks old.  My time flies!  Sullivan has adjusted just fine to our home.  He goes to work everyday with Shawn.  He even goes on the delivery truck Wednesdays & Thursdays.  When Shawn is busy in the grain room, Sullivan hangs out in Gramie Marie's office.

Sullivan rides nicely in the vehicle.  He usually lays down & relaxes in the back seat.   He has been to a few of the relatives to visit.  In this picture, Sully is in the backseat of Shawn's truck.  We were getting ready to leave Gramie Alice's.

I have been taking Sullivan to Puppy Kindergarten.  He just loves it!  When class starts, the dogs get to be off leash & play with each other.  Then when it is time to be on the leash, we work on some basic obedience, like heeling, walking & laying down.  Towards the end of class, they get to go through the tunnel.  Sullivan runs right through it without any problems.

Sullivan has been up to visit his brother Zeb a couple of times.  The first time, they played really rough.  The second time was bit better.  Zeb is on the left & Sully on the right.  Sully is pretending to be viscous!  The puppies played & played that day.  They enjoyed each others company.

Sullivan has really been a good little puppy!  He does bother the girls on occasion, but he can usually be found playing with his toys in the living room or lying on the kitchen floor.  Once in awhile, he make his way down the hall & comes back with someone's shoe.  We tell him "No" & return the shoe.  He does enjoy being outside.  Often times it takes a couple of trips outside for me to ask him if he's coming in.
He sure is growing up fast!

6 weeks old

The pups are now 6 weeks old.  When we got out of our cars for the weekly Saturday visit, we were greeted by Lulu (the pup's mom).  Lulu has been bandged up since giving birth to the puppies.  She came running out the door a bit more happier than last week.

The puppies were happy to have visitors.  We took Sullivan & Zeb out of the puppy pen a couple & put them on the other side of the pen.  When they came nose to nose with one of their siblings, they checked each other out.  It was cute to see.

Our two dals had their annual visit at the vet's this week.  When we left, we scheduled our next visit for Sullivan.  The puppies will have their shots & visit to the vets before we bring him home of course.  The appointment with our vet is so that he can meet her and get started with the puppy visits to the vets.

Next week is the big week.  The puppies will start to leave & go to their new home's.  Most of them won't be that far away.  We can't wait for the fun to begin!

5 weeks old

The puppies are now 5 weeks old.  Three more weeks to go!  We are getting more excited each day.  We have visiting the puppies each Saturday for the past 3 weeks.  This past Saturday, we had to choose our puppy.  Since we had first pick on the males, we had to choose ours so others could then choose the one they want.
Well, two boys were chosen that day.  Besides us, Jeff & the kids chose their dog.  Actually, I think they had their dog chosen last week.  Zeb (Jeff & the kids dog) has a blue string & our dog has a gray & white variegated string.
A discussion of names was had before we visited the pups.  Jeff had few names on his list.  Zeb ended up being their dog's name.  My dog name listed was looked over one more time & I think we have settled on Sullivan, Sully for short.

I don't like to wish time away, but we are are counting down the days till the new little guy comes to his new home!

29 Days Old

A week later & the puppies are now 29 days old or 4 weeks old.  Our house can't wait for the new little guy to arrive.  I have done some cleaning in the "dog room" & Shawn helped me set up the little guy's crate.  This big crate was Magic's, our oldest dalmatian who passed away two years ago.  A new tray to go in the bottom of the crate has been ordered.  The other tray has some cracks in it.  I've also cleaned up the dog's placemats & pulled out another dog food dish.

They will start to acquire their own personalities soon.  So possibly starting next week, we can start to figure out which one we pick to be ours.  Then the other thing we still need to agree on is a name.  The name list has more than just a few on it.    I have come up with a registered name already, it's just the "house name" we need to agree on.  I've been working on this list for quite awhile now.

So now, we have less than 4 weeks to go!  Next Friday, they will be 5 weeks old &  it will be 3 weeks to go.  Just a bit excited!

Puppies are 22 Days Old

The BMD puppies were born Feb 12, 2010.  They are now 3 weeks old.  Lulu gave birth to 12 puppies, but one female didn't make it after about a week old.
We have visited them frequently.  They were moved from the whelping box to a bigger pen on a piece of linoleum in the living room.
Next week, when they turn 4 weeks old, the puppies can be picked up & played with.

Puppy...

Our family is anxiously waiting on the birth of our new puppy. Sometime between Feb 13 & 17, a litter of Bernese Mountain Dogs will be born. We love our Dalmatians, but we also like the Berners. The first time I laid eyes on them, I have always wanted one.
I have been doing my research for awhile now. I've looked at many websites, purchased two books & talked to a lot people about this breed. I have started a folder of paperwork that I have found about the sire & dam of our future puppy. I also have quite the list of names to try to choose from. I think we have agreed on a registered name, but the house name might take us a bit. I have created a survey for my friends & family to help us decide on a name. My sister just suggested to me that if the puppies happen to be born on Valentine's Day, I should somehow include that with his name. I guess we'll just see if that happens!
Once the puppy is born, we will need to be patient again until we can bring him home. I think it will work out, because I'm a teacher, I will have a week off in April to be home with the puppy.
